BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

INSTITUTE FOR STANDARDS, METEROLOGY AND INTELLECTUAL PROPETRY

Institute for Standards, Metrology and Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a legal successor of the Institute for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which established on October 1, 1992. From establishing to 2000 Institute have been responsible only for Industrial Property Rights Protection.
By the Law on Establishing of the Institute for Standards, Metrology and Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette BIH," No. 29/00 and 19/01), Institute responsibilities have extended and include Protection of Copyright and Related Rights. This Law have applied from 8 December, 2000.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Institute is an independent state administrative institution responsible for:

• administrative and other issues relating to the Acquisition and Protection of Industrial Property (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications) and Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits;
• administrative and other issues relating to Copyright and Related Rights including the authorisation activities of the collective rights management societies;
• Issues relating to international co-operation with corresponding national institutions of other countries as well as regional and international organisations;
• issues relating to the Preparation and Implementation of International Contracts, Agreements and Conventions in the Intellectual Property field;
• Issues relating to the Preparation and Implementation of National Legislation in the Intellectual Property field;
• Publishing activities from the Industrial Property Protection field.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
According to the Regulation of Systematization, Intellectual Property Sector comprises of 2 departments as follows:

• Industrial Property Department
• Copyright and Related Rights Department

PERSONNEL
The Institute has total 63 employees. Out of that the Intellectual Property Sector has staffed with 14 employees. Out of these 6 are staff with B.A. or B. Sc. Degree, other are clerical staff.
