ALPTO and EU

Following the Albanian government intention to consider the European Integration as priority amongst priorities, ALPTO is working intensively to achieve similar protection as other EU member countries. Working in three directions: strengthening of Institutional capacity building, promotion and increasing of public awareness of IP operators and higher standard of IP enforcement and protection.

CARDS and Albanian Patent & trademark Office

CARDS Project for the protection of IPR in The western Balkans supports and gives opportunity to achieve the EU standards and services on IP protection. The general concept of the CARDS IPR Project launched by the European Commission, is to support the economical development of CARDS countries through effective and adequate protection and enforcement of IP rights in line with the requirements of the SAA and WTO .It is a good chance for the IP institution in Albania to improve its own experience and skills by bringing it to a higher level with EU experience. Moreover, it is an opportunity, to strengthen the enforcement of IPR by judicial authorities, as to promote the general awareness of IPR in the Western Balkan region.

By fulfilling the Project agenda, we expect to have great impact in creating an EU system of IP rights protection in Albania as well as in the whole region. It is a good base towards integration of our country and all other Southern-Eastern Countries in their native European Community.
