THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA PATENT& TRADEMARK OFFICE

INSTITUTION
Established in 1957 as Trademark Registration Bureau, the new era began on 1993 with creation of Albanian Patent Office as part of Ministry of Science and Technology. Actually the Directorate of Patents and Trademarks is a central public Institution under the authority of Council of the Ministers.

SERVICES
The Albanian Patent & Trademark Office provides reliable examination and registration services, on protection of Industrial Property rights and carry out other services as follow:

• information services,
• maintenance of national registers of IP rights,
• publications and promotion services
• assistance on co-operation with bodies involved in IP system,
• providing to the third parties effective support against the infringement of Patents, Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical indications.

ORGANIZATION & HUMAN RESOURCES
The Office is organized within three departments:

1. Examination department.(with trademark and patent sections)
2. Publication and Information department.
3. Administrative department.

The current number of employees is 15 persons, (out of which 2 are part-time employed).
Increasing the number of personnel is expected after the approval of the competent authorities.
