The seminar on“Copyright Enforcement Practice for Judges and Prosecutors” will be held in Sarajevo on 2 and 3 June 2005 under the EC-funded CARDS Programme on Intellectual Property Rights. Co-organisers of the seminar are the Centres for training of judges and prosecutors of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and of Serbia (RS), and the “Sine Qua Non” Copyright Agency. The main objective of this seminar is to enhance court practice in BiH in the implementation of new copyright law.
Raffaele Buompane, Team Leader of the EU CARDS project, Amela Hadrovic-Hasanefendic, Sine Qua Non, and Sanela Paripovic and Biljana Maric, Directors of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Centers of FBiH and RS, will open the event and welcome representatives from the BiH courts and the delegations of the four countries participating in the CARDS project.
Around thirty-five participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina will attend this seminar, while experts from Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro and Macedonia will present actual court cases to the judges and prosecutors from all over BiH.
Seminar topics will cover new legislation on copyright and related rights in BiH, provisional measures and civil penalties, anti-piracy measures, specific examples from court practice in the region, etc.
The CARDS Regional IPR Programme is putting on this event as a means of promoting regional co-operation and helping transition economies to face the challenges of implementing the new IPR laws.
A second, similar seminar workshop will be held in Banja Luka on 8 and 9 September as part of the same project.
