The EC-funded CARDS Programme on Intellectual Property Rights will bring together police forces, courts, customs authorities, copyright agencies, lawyers, and other interested parties for the successful implementation of IPR (intellectual property right) law. This specialised, high-level training will be offered on 13 and 14 December in Skopje (at the Hotel Holiday Inn) in collaboration with SNB-REACT (business organisation against counterfeiting) and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia.
The main goal of this CARDS programme is to develop a co-operation network for judges, public prosecutors, customs authorities and police forces. The training seminar will be hosted by representatives of the world of business – brand protection managers and identification experts.
Specialists from Romania, Italy, the United Kingdom and CARDS states will cover the following topics: criminal enforcement (investigative techniques, prosecution), civil enforcement (the EU enforcement directive, best practice in several EU countries) and the role of business (anti-counterfeiting strategies).
Emilija Spirovska, Team Leader, CARDS IPR Programme, explained the purpose of the event: “We expect to reach the best quality of IPR enforcement. The cooperation is the key word for the overall general success of IPR protection and its implementation”.
