30 May – 10 June 2005 – Germany Seminar AW5/WIPO: Workshop on Innovation Support Services and their Management

The seminar's goal was to demonstrate the innovation support services available and how they function in Mannheim (Franconia Region of Germany).

The following useful topics were covered: the role of IP in the evaluation of innovation, research results and innovation projects; the role and function of the innovation network; the position of employee-innovators; simulation of innovations by state institutions, etc.

These presentations dealt primarily with the use of patent information in developing an innovation and marketing strategy, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. The general recommendation of the seminar was that innovation support should be organised at national, regional and local level by establishing and networking innovation centers, innovator clubs, associations of patent representatives and potential investors, etc.
